Towards Xenon Neutral Density Measurements Using Radar REMPI Radar REMPI is a microwave-scattering-based resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization

چکیده
Radar REMPI is a microwave-scattering-based resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization diagnostic technique [1] which has been applied to detect trace species in air [2], measure electron loss rates [3], and measure temperature in gas mixtures and flames [4]. The resonance enhanced technique provides high selectivity in measuring species of interest, and hence can be used to measure the density of a neutral species in plasma (in Hall thrusters, for instance) and can also be used for remote magnetometry [5]. The diagnostic technique has a measurement time on the order of tens of nanoseconds and a sample volume length scale of less than 1 mm, allowing timeand spaceresolved measurements.

Experiments on Microwave Scattering of REMPI in Argon, Xenon and Nitric Oxide
Experiments on microwave scattering from resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (RADAR REMPI) are presented for argon (3+1 REMPI), xenon (2+1 REMPI) and nitric oxide (1+1 REMPI) to demonstrate its capabilities for nonintrusive diagnostics. The time evolution of the microwave scattering from 3+1 REMPI in argon with different frequency tripled Ti:sapphire laser pulse energies at different pres...
متن کاملMethyl Radical Measurement in a Methane / Air Flame at Atmospheric Pressure
2D measurements of methyl radicals (CH3) in CH4/air flames at atmospheric pressure have been achieved using coherent microwave Rayleigh scattering from Resonance Enhanced Multi-Photon Ionization, Radar REMPI. Relative direct measurements of the methyl radicals were conducted by Radar REMPI via the two-photon resonance of the intermediate state and subsequent onephoton ionization. Because of the...
متن کاملNew diagnostic methods for laser plasma- and microwave-enhanced combustion.
The study of pulsed laser- and microwave-induced plasma interactions with atmospheric and higher pressure combusting gases requires rapid diagnostic methods that are capable of determining the mechanisms by which these interactions are taking place. New rapid diagnostics are presented here extending the capabilities of Rayleigh and Thomson scattering and resonance-enhanced multi-photon ionizati...
متن کاملResonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization for real-time monitoring of trichloroethylene formed by degradation of tetrachloroethylene using zero-valent zinc.
Resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) is investigated as a potential technique for real-time monitoring of selected volatile organochloride compounds (VOCs). In a proof-of-concept experiment, the progress of the reductive-degradation of tetrachloroethylene (PCE) to trichloroethylene (TCE) by zero-valent zinc was monitored by REMPI measurements performed in the headspace above the PC...
متن کاملA 1 + 1' resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization scheme for rotationally state-selective detection of formaldehyde via the à (1)A2 ← X[combining tilde] (1)A1 transition.
The formaldehyde molecule is an important model system for understanding dynamical processes in small polyatomic molecules. However, prior to this work, there have been no reports of a resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) detection scheme for formaldehyde suitable for rovibrationally state-selective detection in molecular beam scattering experiments. Previously reported tunable REM...
